About KIN-BALL® sport
A Fun, Fast, and Inclusive Game for Everyone
What Is KIN-BALL® Sport?
KIN-BALL® Sport is a fast-paced and exciting team game played with a giant 1.2m (4ft) ball. What makes it truly unique is that it is one of the very few sports in the world played with three teams on the court at the same time.
Instead of the usual two opposing sides, three teams compete simultaneously, creating a dynamic and strategic game that requires teamwork, communication, and quick thinking.
Designed to promote inclusion and cooperation, KIN-BALL® Sport ensures that every player is actively involved, making it ideal for schools, communities, and recreational sports.

A Brief History
KIN-BALL® Sport was invented in Québec, Canada in 1986 by physical educator Mario Demers. His goal was to create a sport that encouraged teamwork, participation, and respect, while allowing players of different abilities to enjoy the game together.
Today, KIN-BALL® Sport is played in over 30 countries and is recognised by the International Kin-Ball Federation (IKBF). International competitions include the World Cup, Asia Cup, and Youth Championships, with the sport continuing to grow around the world.
Key Features of KIN-BALL® Sport
- Three teams of four players each – Blue (Bleu), Black (Noir) and Grey (Gris)
- One of the few sports played with three teams at the same time
- Fast-paced and low-contact, suitable for all ages
- Encourages teamwork, communication, and inclusivity
Objective of the Game
One team serves the ball while calling out another team’s colour.
The serving player must shout “Omnikin [Team Colour]!” — for example: “Omnikin Bleu!”, “Omnikin Noir!”, or “Omnikin Gris!”
The called team must catch the giant ball before it touches the ground. If they fail, the other two teams score a point.
Teams constantly rotate between serving, defending, and preparing to catch, which keeps the game exciting and unpredictable.
Basic Rules
- Each team has 4 players, and all four must touch the ball before serving
- A player from the serving team must shout ‘Omnikin [Team Colour in French]!’ before hitting the ball.
- The ball must travel at least 3 metres when served
- No physical contact or obstruction is allowed
- Players rely on communication, teamwork, and strategy to react quickly and defend their space
